The Best Concert I Have Ever Experienced

I took my son and one of his friends to Projekt Revolution today, an all day concert that Linkin Park puts together.

Lots of great bands, but we will get to that in a moment.

Dscn0765 First the Linkin Park concert. It was the greatest concert I have ever experienced.  I went there as a fan, but there were at least 5 songs that when I heard them performed live they just hit home.

Here are a few key lyrics, in no particular order;

From the Inside
I won’t trust myself with you
I won’t waste myself on you

In the End
What it meant to me / will eventually / be a memory / of a time when I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

What I've Done

- Linkin Park Lyrics

Yeah - all the lyrics in What I've Done are perfect. I wish I would have written that song.

Breaking the Habit

I don’t know what’s worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don’t know why I instigate
And say what I don’t mean
I don’t know how I got this way
I know it’s not alright
So I’m Breaking the habit Tonight

Numb

I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

SUCH GREAT LYRICS

As for the rest of the day, Chris Cornell was great. Chester Bennington came out an helped him with the song "I'm Going Hungry" which was really cool. Later Chris Cornell came out and joined Linkin Park on stage, which was just cool. The Bravery sucked. They were putting me to sleep. If I could make one suggestion for the program it would be that 10 Years should have been on the main stage and The Bravery on the second stage, if there at all. Ashes Divide was good. The Street Drum Corps reminded me a little of the Blue Man Band, but with a great lead singer. It was awesome when they joined Linkin Park on stage. We got there around 2:30 today and stayed for the whole thing, including the 24 minute remix of Bleed it Out with the Street Drum Corps onstage. It is now 1:00 am and I am going to go take my shower and go to bed now. But if you ever get a chance to see Linkin Park...I highly recommend it.

Music for our Emotions

Yesterday my youngest son was so full of energy I would swear that he was glowing. He also seemed to be wanting to do something musical. So I jumped on the Internet to see if there were any 'concerts in the park' type things going on (yes I know it is winter - but I was hopeful). I did not find anything for him, but what I found were tickets to the Matchbox 20 concert at half price!

There is this site called Tickco - I had never heard of it and the price of $33 seemed too good to be true, so I checked it out the best way I know how - I checked the blogosphere. Over 7000 links to the site - and nothing negative that I found.

So tonight my husband and I had excellent seats at an amazing concert.

It was good to see Alanis Morrissette in the opening act. She still has a strong voice, but through the years has lost some of her edge. It just so happened my seats were 4 seats away from my old boss Bill Mayers. As I told Bill, Alanis made me wish that I did not throw away old journals and writings. She may no longer have the venom that gave her the edge, but she seemed to be having fun with some of those songs. I will never get to revisit some of my best work that was written from intense emotion. Does that mean I will stop throwing away journals and writings - nope...some things I do not need to revisit.

Matchbox 20 was AMAZING! I would say they played all my favorite songs, but all of their songs are my favorite songs. Each member of the band stands out as a top musician, and they are so much fun and  they play so tight.

I love how they can write happy "I hate you and the world is ending songs." I also enjoyed watching thousands of people in the stadium relate to the song Unwell.

Although I could claim that all of their songs are my favorite and that each song has some of the most amazing lyrics, there is one song where the lyrics stand out above all the rest - which I will leave as tonight's quote;

And I'm so
Terrified of no one else but me
I'm here all the time
I won't go away
It's me, yeah I can't get myself to go away
It's me, and I can't get myself to go away
- Long Day
